Little Milestones

Jeremiah is growing and changing so fast! Little growth means little changes to the way we do things around here. When we go "Kroger-ing" (grocery shopping), he rides in the cart most of the time instead of in a sling or pack. He eats solid food twice a day which means more planning if we're going to be away from home and less nursing each day. Since he sits up so well on his own, now he takes a bath like a big boy! He doesn't need the infant sling in his tub. He took his first bath like that this week and he loved it! He couldn't get enough of splashing himself and me.

I can sit up in the tub now!

Yum! Sweet potatoes are my favorite, Mommy!

Olympics + Valentine's + Daddy home = a fun weekend!

We started our weekend with Al getting a call from Averitt telling him not to come in due to snow in the south. What? Are you kidding me? Another Friday night off? Ok. If you say so! Jeremiah and I did the "daddy's home happy dance" and settled in to have a relaxing night at home watching the Olympic Opening Ceremonies. We tucked Jeremiah in at 8pm and said good-night. He went right to sleep, or so we thought... He was crying 30 minutes later. I thought he'd go right back to sleep if he nursed, but instead he stayed up and watched the entire opening ceremonies with us. He was sweet, cuddly and quiet so we didn't mind a bit. It was a sweet night. Here is a picture of Daddy and Jeremiah watching together.

Jeremiah received Valentine's from Mema and Papa and Grandma and Grandpa. As you can see, he loved them both! Al and I had dinner out thanks to our baby-sitter Aunt Trish! Thanks, Trish! Hope Lars and Jeremiah didn't wear you out too much!

Thanks, Mema & Papa! I love Winnie the Pooh!

Ahh... Grandma sent me a penguin card! Thanks, guys!

It's a boy!

We're having a nephew! My brother Peter and his wife Melinda are pregnant with a baby and today we found out it's a boy! We are so excited that the Lord has blessed and surprised them with this gift. God is good! Peter and Melinda are also foster parents to a baby boy. We're praying that, Baby "F" as we call him online to protect his identity, will stay with our family forever and give new baby boy a brother right from the start. Here's a picture of the newest Reynolds boy. Melinda's due date is July 4th.

6 Month Check Up!

Jeremiah had his six month check up yesterday. Our little guy is 17 lbs, 6 oz and 28 inches long or as I like to say, 2 foot, 4 inches tall! He is long and lean for his age. He had a great time at the doctors office tearing the paper off the exam table, twice. The doctor didn't go through his list of questions that they ask, like, can he pass an item from one hand to another, does he talk, does he sit up on his own, etc. Jeremiah was showing off all his skills so he just observed him and checked things off his list as he did them. Our kid is a genius. Kidding. Really, I am. We do think he's pretty special though. Also, as of yesterday Jeremiah has 2 teeth! His second one popped through on the bottom right next to his first.

Mommy, I look silly!

What's up, Daddy?

Always laughing

Jeremiah is always laughing about something. His new game is to cover his eyes with anything he can get his hands on or lean into a toy to hide his face. I know he's playing peek-a-boo, but he hasn't quite mastered pulling the item away from his eyes so he just sits there and giggles until I pull it off. Today I was nursing him and he stopped eating, put his arm over his eyes and when I asked, what are you doing? He just started giggling. He pulled his arm down slowly and then laughed and laughed when he made eye contact. Sometimes we just look at each other and start laughing, what baby does that!? Okay, okay. Maybe other babies do it too, but I haven't ever witnessed it!
Peek-a-boo, Momma!

Jeremiah is 6 months old!

At 6 months, Jeremiah...
*sits up unsupported
*laughs at just about anything we say to him
*thinks his daddy is fascinating and watches his every move
*jabbers all the time
*has his first tooth and is working on another
*eats solid foods, rice cereal, avocados, bananas and tomorrow we start carrots
*drools like a drippy faucet

6 months. Half a year. 26 weeks. 182 days. Any way you put it, Jeremiah is growing up fast! Every week has been filled with adventure, every day has been fun, every hour is filled with laughter and smiles.
